The goal of the BC Soil Web Collaborative project was to develop a dynamic, sustainable web-based learning platform to enhance and support the networking and professional development of soil science students and professionals in British Columbia. The project is based in UBC WordPress blog, an open source content management system. Collaborative’s WordPress blog (http://www.prsss.ca/) is administered and maintained by the Pacific Regional Society of Soil Science (PRSSS), a non-profit BC-based organization focused on promoting discussion and awareness of soil issues. The Collaborative allows communication, dissemination and sharing of resources and soil inventorying expertise. It enhances a community of practice within the discipline of soil science by highlighting research achievements and opportunities and by showcasing leadership and advocacy activities.
